The Proof Is in the Playing
One Lesson. One Song. One Take.

After hearing a song just once, Jae — age 13 — played it back in a single take.
That’s not a trick. That’s what happens inside a structured lesson built for immediate application.
From the moment you sit behind the kit, you’re not just learning—you’re playing like a performer.
Coaching is targeted. Feedback is immediate. Progress is visible in real time.
"As soon as we met, I knew. When I heard the song on the first lesson, we were in completely." — Jae's Dad
"I'm providing a blueprint. I want to encourage them to make it their own." — Matt
What Students & Parents Are Saying
Real Results. Real Families. Real Drumming.
"My husband and I are incredibly impressed with Matt. In the short time I've spent with him, I have learned a great deal, and I am already doing things I never thought I could. Not only is Matt an exceptional drummer and truly knowledgeable about his craft, but he is patient and makes learning fun. If you are searching for an exceptional drum teacher, I highly recommend Matt." — Annie, Student
“Matt Murphy is not only an excellent drum instructor, but he is also an excellent role model. He encourages our son to not only give 100% during his drum lessons, but also in school and life. His teaching method has far exceeded our expectations. Our family feels that Matt has been a blessing, and we couldn’t imagine using anyone else for drum instruction.”
-Christine, Parent
"The progress Moxley has made under Matt's instruction is nothing short of magical. Not only is Matt exceptionally skilled, but he also possesses a unique ability to connect with children, always patient, encouraging, and kind. What sets Matt apart is his dynamic teaching style — he seamlessly blends fundamentals with fun. If you're considering drum lessons for yourself or your child, look no further than Matt Murphy." — Jason, Parent
"Matt Murphy has been an extraordinary drum teacher for my daughter. His style allows my daughter to have much fun while improving at the same time. She is so excited about her lesson every week — it's something she 'gets' to do, rather than something she 'has' to do. That vibe has led to her practicing at home on her own simply because she enjoys it."
— Joe, Parent
"Drums were never just music for me. They were my voice.
From the first rhythm I played, I knew this was more than an instrument — it was a calling. One that took me around the world, onto stages I never imagined, and into the lives of thousands of students.
Every airport. Every stage. Every lesson. Each one reinforced the same truth:
Living for your purpose is always worth it.
But beyond the stages and the accomplishments, it's always been about the people.
Watching a student go from nervous beginner to confident performer — that never gets old. That's why I teach. That's why I show up every single day.
Drumming gave me everything. Now I give it back."

Teaching Philosophy
Building Blocks. Fundamentals. Rudiments. Real Music.
Music is not about perfect execution — it's about staying in the music. In every lesson, students build strong fundamentals, but just as importantly, they learn to keep playing when things don't go as planned. Mistakes aren't setbacks — they're moments to adapt in real time.
Once something happens in music, it's already in the past. The skill is learning how to immediately re-enter the groove, stay connected to the pulse, and keep the performance moving forward without stopping. That builds real-world musicianship: awareness, timing, confidence, and the ability to perform under pressure.
From the very first lesson, students think like performers — not just learners. You don't just learn exercises; you learn how they function inside real songs. Rudiments, technique, and rhythm are always taught in musical context, not isolation.
"I give you the structure, guidance, and tools to get playing songs quickly — then you build real skill from there. I'm the blueprint." — Matt Murphy

Common Questions
Everything You Need to Know Before Your First Lesson

A drum set will help — practicing at home between lessons accelerates progress significantly. That said, don't let not having one stop you from starting. We can discuss the best options for your situation during your free first lesson.
What ages and levels do you teach?
All ages and all levels. From 5-year-olds picking up sticks for the first time to adults returning to the kit after years away — every student gets a lesson plan built specifically for them.
How quickly will I see progress?
Immediately. You'll play a real song in your very first lesson. Progress is visible from day one — that's not a promise, it's the method.
What is the rescheduling policy?
A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required to reschedule a lesson. Life happens — just give advance notice and we'll work it out. Same-day cancellations without notice result in a forfeited lesson.
